How to Experience Las Vegas, Nevada Without Gambling

A visit to Las Vegas, Nevada for the recovering gambler is indeed a dicey proposition. However, certain life events such as weddings, seminars, and business trips occasionally make this journey a necessity. Underneath the surface of flashing lights, endless pinging of slot machines, and the hazy cigarette smoke in casino rooms is a town and area with a lot more to offer than simply cheap thrills from games of chance. The following are five tips to make your stay in Las Vegas unique, relaxing, exciting, and, most importantly, risk-free.

1) Stay at casino-free hotels. Although it seems counter-intuitive, there are many hotels to choose from in Las Vegas which do not offer on-site gaming. Not only is the stay more relaxing without this distraction, but you of course will not be tempted to gamble. All of the casino hotels make it impossible to navigate their floor plan without tripping over endless clusters of table games and slots. I have personally stayed at Sonoran Suites of Las Vegas (8350 West Desert Inn Road) and found it a great way to recharge the batteries while keeping the circus of the strip at arm’s length. The travel time from the hotel to the strip was only a five-minute ride.

2) Enjoy a show. With the plethora of artists performing daily, it is simple to find a show that is appropriate for your party. Please see my recent review of the Mac King Comedy Magic Show for an example of family entertainment. Your hotel will have a multitude of pamphlets with the current acts performing on the strip.

3) Visit national landmarks. Tours are available daily to the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. The bus tours to Hoover Dam average about $40 per person and last 4-5 hours. Those adventurers going to the Grand Canyon, however, should block out an entire day for the tour, with travel times of 2 ½ hours each way (not including exploration). The cost is anywhere from $80 to $120. Airplane and helicopter tours are also available, with an average cost of $350.

4) Take a hike. You can also experience American beauty by hiking the trails around Red Rock, Mt. Charleston, and Lake Mead. A number of hiking companies provide transportation to the sites and provide maps and group activities. Consult with your hotel concierges to determine the best hike for you

5) Enjoy plenty of fine cuisines. The major hotels have buffets and fine dining run by world-renowned chefs. Some of the spreads truly need to be seen to be believed. My recent stay at Harrah’s included a 먹튀사이트 that had dishes ranging from sushi, Chinese, Mexican, prime rib, pizza, soups, fresh salads, and a chocolate fountain for dipping of strawberries. Check with your hotel for their menu and choices, and do not be afraid to branch out to other hotels for more variety.
